RIP Franco Harris: An icon and hero of my adolescence. Heading into the 1972 Draft, Franco was seen as a workhorse and his Penn State backfield mate Lydell Mitchell was seen as the skill stud. It was stunning when the Steelers drafted Franco well ahead of Mitchell, but they knew what they were doing. Lydell did OK for the Colts, but Franco ascended to the pantheon of immortals. He was a major tone setter for the great 1970's Steeler rosters, which caused great pain to Cowboys fans and others. I was somewhat ambivalent about the team until they handled the Fran Tarkenton Vikings in the Super Bowl. Then I got on board. Anyone who took care of Tark was deserving of a thumbs up in my book. With several teammates and coaches already deceased, I'm glad that Terry Bradshaw is still around and able to clearly articulate his thoughts and feelings in great detail as people reminisce about Franco and those Pittsburgh teams.

Chargers Team Doctor Punctured Tyrod Taylor's Lung: Broadcasters during the Chargers/Chiefs game on Sunday were mystified by the last-minute absence of quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who wasn't on the injury list but did not make the start. Coach Anthony Lynn revealed that Taylor missed the game because the team doctor accidentally punctured his lung while administering a painkiller injection for Taylor's cracked ribs. He's out indefinitely.

When you roll out of bed to discover that all hell has broken loose with a PGA major tournament including a nearby traffic fatality, an aggressive police arrest and detention with bystanders filming the scene - and at the center of it all is Scottie Scheffler?

I remember when Red Auerbach made Bill Russell the player-coach of the Celtics, saying that there was no other coach Russell would be able to play for.
I wonder if that should have happened to LeBron at some point. I don't know how someone coaches a team with a towering force and presence like LeBron.

When Deion said last season that he doesn't care about team culture, that he doesn't care if his players don't like each other, he just wants to win, I said fuck him. I dialed out of the Buffs media storm.
I don't know if he'll ever become a successful coach at Colorado's competitive level, but right now, he's way more of a brand than he is a coach.
Give me the ultra brotherly Detroit Lions' O Line any day over this Coach Prime shit.

The only good thing is that Cousins is probably going to be more like Alex Smith was to Mahomes than Aaron Rodgers was to Jordan Love.

And Maye wins the starting job, Carolina trades Bryce Young to the Vikings for a pittance and he becomes an all-star in MN.
It would be good for the Panthers to have a succession of QB's on rookie deals, since they're still fighting with Matt Rhule over his buyout claim and they owe Frank Reich 36 million dollars.

It was a setup. The Canes got the whole region in a swoon over their heroics so no one would notice that the Hornets might hire Redick or that Maye ends up falling to the second round of the NFL draft.

Social Dist...err...Scottie Scheffler - Prison Bound
When all that unfolded, my thought was: watch Scottie go out and murder the golf course, distractions be damned. And he pretty much did. He may not get all the way home to the big trophy, but it's shaping up to be a hell of a tournament.
It would have been easy to loop Tiger into this, but also easy enough to use snark reduction and keep him out of it.
